A Late Quartet (6.5)

Filed under: Movies — Lynn Fikstad @ 16:27

I can see why some people wouldn’t like this, especially if they were not curious about the obsessive nature required to play like a world class musician. I liked the acting and the dialogue, but it is a drama with little, if any, comedy. Christopher Walken was playing a sane person for once. As is usual, Phillip Seymour Hoffman is great. There was something that didn’t seem right about the casting of Catherine Keener, but I can’t say exactly what it was. Maybe I just didn’t like the character.

Enough Said (9.0)

Filed under: Movies — Lynn Fikstad @ 15:35

This is a great movie. I enjoyed watching it, mainly for the dialogue and the acting of Julia Louis-Dreyfus and James Gandolfini. The story and even the dialogue is a little juvenile for the characters who are over 50, but it was still very entertaining. I liked the movie, Last Vegas, too and it was a lot more juvenile. I guess I like silly movies.

I don’t think anyone has a first date like these two; no two people are that clever. And the clever dialogue continues throughout the movie.

Even Julia Louis-Dreyfus was able to keep up with the talent of Gandolfini. His acting will be missed.

IMDB says that if you like Enough Said you will also like Blue Jasmine and Win, Win. I liked all 3 movies, a lot.
